Elvis Presley sells his favorite car in Salzburg. Just two pieces of this unique Cadillac.
Elvis Presley's favorite car is auctioned at the Dorotheum auction house in Salzburg at the end of October: the value of the 1972 Cadillac de Ville Estate Wagon is estimated at 100-200 euros per thousand (32-64 million forints).
The rock and roll king in the 1970s commuted between Beverly Hills and Las Vegas. Only two of this model existed in the world, the other was Dean Martin.
The car has been made to Elvis's request for the smallest details, even the wheel spokes are covered with 24 carat gold. An eight-station radio, leather cover, air conditioning, and hydraulic and electronic aids complemented the original sedan body-mounted Deville limousine built by the American Sunroof Company into an extensive combination.
The special car, which has 112,000 kilometers, served as a vehicle for Graceland's personnel for twenty years after Elvis's death, and became the property of art collectors in the 1990s. In 2016, the vehicle was taken to Austria.
Elvis Presley's enthusiasm for cars was legendary, with a special relationship with the Cadillac. Sometimes you bought more than ten cars at once, and then donated it to your friends.
The car that was auctioned on October 20 was originally intended for its manager, Colonel Parker, but the singer has so often borrowed from him that Parker eventually returned him.
The Classic Expo Salzburg offers 98 additional rarities in addition to Elvis's car.
