Vintage cars and motorbikes, an airplane and all-day programs await those interested in the veteran car day called Veterans in the North on Saturday in Budapest, in the Diesel Hall of the Northern Vehicle Repair.
At the event organized by the Transport Museum, Mercedes, BMWs, old Skodas, Volvos, but also the well-known Trabants and Wartburgs will be on display alongside an original 1958 Rubik R-22SV Super Futár C-type airplane, designed by the elder Rubik He was the father of Ernő, the inventor of the Rubik's Cube - reads the museum's announcement sent to MTI.
The public can watch Once Upon a Time in the North. also the special vehicles of the temporary exhibition "The story continues", including the Ford T-model, the GAZ-12 ZIM, several types of Ikarus or the locomotive nicknamed "Ghost", which holds the speed record for steam locomotives in Hungary.
On display for the first time from the museum's collection is a special Pannónia T8 motorcycle, which was built specifically for the foreign market in 1964 and was never sold after being exported to the United States, with only 150 miles on it.
There will be interactive guided tours in the former industrial hall, in the exhibition of the Transport Museum, and as part of a bunker tour, the public can explore the former Cold War shelter of the vehicle repairer.
During the day, the staff of Óbuda University's veteran car restoration department will give a presentation, the children can have a water gun battle with a retro fire engine, but there will also be a drawing competition and unique tattoos. The program is Once Upon a Time in the North. it can be visited with a ticket for the exhibition "The Story Continues", the announcement states.
