Powered by 154 hp and 8.4 seconds, the new BMW 3 Series entry-level model, the 318i, accelerates to 100.
In July 1975, the first-generation BMW 3 was unveiled at the Munich Olympic Stadium. The initial base model was the 100-horse 316 with a 14-second 100 sprint and a top speed of 160 km / h.
For the first time in 2012, it was introduced to the turbocharged base model 3, with the N13B16 four-cylinder 136hp (316i). This has been replaced by a model upgrade to the same 1.5-liter, three-cylinder BMW (318i). Because of its walking culture and prestige, the three-cylinder 3 was not popular, so this mistake is not made again. The 318i again gets a four-cylinder engine. A 2-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine with a 156-horsepower and 250 Nm torque is added to the 318i. The 8-speed automatic transmission is standard.
With a top speed of over 220 km / h, the 318i accelerates to 100 in 8.4 seconds, with the Touring 3 tenths slower.
Beyond the 318i, in 2020, BMW will be a novelty. The new BMW X6, the Gran Coupé 8, arrives on track, the M8 and the M2 CS. Comes with the strongest 3-door MINI ever, the John Cooper Works GP 306, and the counterpoint will be the X5 M and X6 M.
