Defender V8

We were wrong when we thought the plug-in hybrid powertrain would be the top engine in the new Defender series: now the real top model, the Defender V8 with a supercharged eight-cylinder behemoth, was introduced. The numbers that can disturb the rest are: 525 horsepower, 625 Nm, an acceleration of 5.2 seconds from standstill to 100 km / h, a top speed of 240 km / h - and a standard average consumption of 14.5 liters.

It would have been suicidal without a proper chassis, but Land Rover also thought about it: they replaced the shock absorbers and springs, installed more massive cornering stabilizers, retuned the steering gear, and installed awful brakes (20-inch discs!).

This is accompanied by an electronic active rear differential that turns the car into a curve, and the Terrain Response 2 system has been given a separate dynamic mode, which is said to deliver more precise, more dosing performance on both terrain and asphalt.

The top model has a top look: the blue calipers almost light up in front of the full black body (the car is available in gray and white on request), the rear has two exhausts and the sound flows to the outside world, the wheels are 22 inches. Special, padded leather seats in the passenger compartment, Alcantara steering wheel and chrome shifting ears create a menacingly elegant feel, the airbag cover is leathery and the handrail in front of the passenger is also painted black.

The infotainment system has not remained untouched either: instead of the previous 10-inch screen, 11.4-inch can now be requested. The curved surface of the larger touch panel provides access to features such as a navigation system with a simplified menu system that has revamped, intelligent features (e.g., keeps quiet when you notice that you’re on a normal route, but still only monitors traffic and sounds when congestion yes) helps you drive. This system is not limited to the V8.
