Land Rover works on all-terrain vehicles. The world of design is inspired by Defender, but the technology will be city-friendly - with a three-cylinder petrol engine and front-wheel drive.
Land Rover is not in an easy position: its products are iconic and expensive, with one performing better on the field than the other. Still, with the exception of the Range Rover Evoque, they have nothing to offer to customers looking for a premium crossover with average expectations.
Therefore, they may come up with a brand new model soon. It can be built on an abbreviated version of the new Defender’s aluminum floorboard and can be powered by a one-and-a-half-liter, three-cylinder engine - either alone or in a plug-in hybrid configuration.
Since the new car needs to be not only small but also affordable, it is expected to start with front-wheel drive, allowing it to compete successfully with the Volvo XC40, the Audi Q3.
Nor is it inconceivable that Land Rover will launch a brand new, city-oriented sub-brand with the new car.
