Due to the stall caused by the coronavirus, the premiere of the new generation Lexus NX could be postponed to 2022. It will bring important news.
Instead of the originally planned 2021, Lexus could introduce the second series of the NX crossover with a one-year delay. The rookie can bring a step change in the life of the brand, not only in technology but also in design: we suspect he will be among the first to apply the design solutions introduced by the Lexus LF-1 study car (which will also be in production soon).
However, this is not why we are waiting for the new NX, but because the successor will be based on the TNGA-K floor plate used by the Toyota RAV4, and thanks to this you can get your field brother's plug-in hybrid powertrain. With this, the Lexus NX will be the third model to use this technology: in the meantime, the Suzuki Across, a clone of the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, has been introduced.
But let’s turn back to the Lexus NX: according to information leaked from a factory source but not officially commented, its driver support features are also expanding. There will be systems and services that enable two-level autonomous transport - that is, the car will be able to accelerate, decelerate and turn on its own on the highway, under constant supervision - and, of course, the range of connection technologies will expand.
