Every third Hungarian driver is considering the purchase of an electric car due to the lower maintenance costs and lower emissions, the international consulting company EY told MTI on Thursday based on a representative research conducted last November.
According to the survey, 80 percent of Hungarians have never driven a purely electric vehicle, yet 53 percent of those surveyed would consider switching to an alternative drive vehicle in the event of a favorable offer.
The respondents would mostly choose an e-car because of the favorable maintenance costs and lower emission values, 9 percent of them would buy such a car next time, and 14 percent of them would definitely switch to an electric car in the future.
47 percent of those included in the research are considering buying a hybrid car.
The main concern for potential buyers is the higher price level, as well as the cost of possible battery failures and replacement. In addition, they are concerned about the short range, the slow charging time, and the rapidly decreasing value of the vehicle. The respondents could be encouraged to switch to e-mobility mostly with purchase price subsidies, tax and duty discounts, and an increase in the number of charging stations - they write in the announcement.
Roland László, the head of EY's business consulting department, emphasized in the announcement that personalized offers can increase the desire to buy electric and hybrid cars. However, for this, retailers need to operate a customer relationship management system that effectively supports the service of unique needs.
In the announcement, Tamás Vékási, head of the EY tax consulting business, drew attention to the fact that domestic companies have the opportunity to encourage the spread of e-mobility. Many favorable tax options are available for companies for environmentally friendly investments. Many people do not know that this category also includes if an employer provides the use of electric transportation for its employees.
