From January to April, 45,973 imported used cars were sold in Hungary, which represents an increase of 12.9 percent compared to the 40,727 units in the same period last year. In the same period, the number of new car sales was 37,780, 11.6 percent less than the 42 a year earlier. From a value of 752 - the JóAutók.hu portal informed MTI on Wednesday based on data from DataHouse.
Bertalan Halász, CEO of JóAutók.hu, indicated in the announcement that although the number of imported used cars dropped by 17 percent to 10,659 in April from 12,831 in the previous month, this most likely does not indicate a trend reversal.
He added that the war in Ukraine, which seems to be dragging on more and more, the rising inflation and the euro exchange rate stuck at a permanently high level made a wider range of potential buyers temporarily more cautious than before, but the planned car purchases will be realized sooner or later, and due to the supply problems of the new car market, the demands the greater part will still be met by the import of used cars.
