Mazda CX-5

A complete change of attitude begins at Mazda and that doesn’t mean we’ll say goodbye to Kodo design. The brand is moving a bit towards the premium segment and completely changing the technical content of the larger models.

The new modular floor plate has been completed, which will receive the new motors along its length. A completely new family is also made of this, with serial six-cylinder pieces, details of which have not been revealed by the manufacturer. However, it has now become clear which may be the first model that we can already get to know with the new technical content.

“Mazda will continue to focus on developing high-efficiency engines such as the Skyactiv-X, as well as the new in-line six-cylinder engine family, whose members will drive the newly arriving larger models from the CX-5 upwards,” he told a news conference. Vinesh Bhindi, Managing Director of Mazda Australia.

More specific information has not yet been confirmed by Mazda, but all that is known is that the diesel engines will be retained, but work is also underway to improve the hybrid system. Production of the new in-line six-cylinder engines will begin next year, as the new Mazda CX-5 generation is expected to arrive in 2022.

Currently, many have already described diesel engines, but there are uses where their benefits clearly stand out, so there is still a demand for them in the market. And Mazda may think of acquiring this segment, or as a special feature, it may even have a premium price for diesel engines in the future.
