The biggest problem of the Hungarian people with the smart car is that it's smart. Most of us - two thirds of the respondents - think that it will no longer be possible to enjoy the freedom of driving with smart cars, because instead they are controlled by a robot. This was also mentioned by every second respondent who does not have a license and does not plan to obtain it.
Six out of ten thought the car was so personal a thing that they wanted their own and would not get into a community car that could be taken away from a collection point, while reducing traffic, traffic jams and parking problems by reducing air pollution and car maintenance costs.
It was mentioned in the same high proportion that although smart technology avoids the plug, but urban traffic is not going to be reduced, so there will be people who cannot drive in the car.
Finally, at the beginning of the list, it was believed that these vehicles are constantly collecting data on, for example, our transport, shopping, and listening habits, which could go into the wrong hands.
One of the five most important aspects was one positive opinion - six out of ten have been highlighted - that a self-driving car can give more freedom and autonomy to those who have previously needed or were unable to travel, such as the elderly and the disabled.
It has also turned out that young people and those who are licensed or designers - seven out of ten - are not more positive about the smart car than others, they simply know more about it: generally both positive and more dubious opinions were mentioned in higher proportions.
All in all, only every third person thinks it is a good idea to have a car without drivers in a few decades, and even a smaller part of the young people think that. They are even better off using it: only one in four people would use a self-driving car, and even a third of younger, more open-minded experimenters would try out.
Even those who do not have a license and do not plan to get it are even more confined, although a community car would be a great travel alternative for them if they occasionally needed a car.
