Production of the Honda NSX (Acura NSX) hybrid supercar in North America will soon end. In honor of the farewell, the model will come with a special design version: in the 2022 model year, the three electric-powered, all-wheel-drive sports cars will be available exclusively in this Type S version.
A total of 350 pieces of the car will be made at Honda’s North American plant, of which only 50 will be shipped to export markets. This is a better rate than for the first generation model, when all 239 copies of the NSX Type S produced between 1997 and 2001 were sold on the Japanese domestic market.
So far, Honda has only revealed about the special design that it will be the street version of the NSX with the best driving dynamics of all time - we don’t know if the first series was included. The specific technical data will be published by the factory on August 12, the first day of distribution. In any case, the North American version of the base model combines a 500-horsepower 3.5 V6 turbo engine with a piece of 47-horsepower rear electric motor and 36-horsepower front electric motors that drive the front wheels separately. The system output is 573 hp, the car accelerates to 96 km / h in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 307 km / h. In the summer of 2020, NSX broke the previous record for hybrid vehicles on the Pikes Peak ramp: the car reached the top in 10 minutes 01,913 seconds.
Incidentally, the first copy of the NSX Type S will be put up for auction on August 14, with 100% of the proceeds donated by the factory to charity.
