A survey was conducted on the conditions under which Hungarians would be willing to switch to electric cars.

In the case of a favorable offer, almost 60 percent of Hungarian drivers would think about buying an electric or rechargeable hybrid car, and 9 percent of them are planning to switch to this type of vehicle in the future - according to a survey by EY and Ipsos.

In particular, the interviewees (40%) and too short a charge (28%) discourage them from switching to a more sustainable car. Only 35 percent of respondents consider it justified to pay more for an electric car than for a conventional diesel or petrol engine because of lower maintenance costs.

Nearly one third of the respondents are confident that self-driving cars will spread in Hungary within 10-15 years. But more seriously, only the younger generation (20-29 years) would consider switching to this type of vehicle.

About 60 percent of routine drivers would never even think about buying a self-driving car.
