It was not originally planned to send the Bolide race car into production, but the customers' money spoke, the Bugatti produced a series of it.
Above a certain level, it is no longer the demand that determines what the buyer will open their wallet for. Would anyone have thought that Bugatti's customer base would have a toothache on a race car that could not be used on the road? They didn’t even think seriously about it at Bugatti, but they played with the idea. The end now is that they will be manufactured.
The Bolide study car was introduced to the public in October 2020 and, of course, to the potential buyer of the Bugatti. Starting from the Chiron, with a heavily rebuilt body, a brutal race car was pushed in front of the audience with 1,850 horsepower, 1,240 kilograms unladen weight and boldly sprinkled with aerodynamic elements.
There have been rumors in the past that Bolide will not only exist in one piece, which has now been confirmed by Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann. After the October presentation, the wallets of potential buyers soon opened up, which also forced Bugatti to redesign, because if there was a demand, why not produce it?
That’s why they’re making 40 pieces from the Bolide race car, making it the next small series Bugatti based on Chiron, but with even more extreme changes than the Divo. The “series” Bugatti Bolides are made with a lower and wider body, with slightly more restrained aerodynamic elements compared to the study car, but also with easily recognizable racing car solutions.
