Chinese production resumes

Toyota's Japanese vehicle manufacturer will resume production at three of its four Chinese factories next week.

Toyota originally planned to launch Chinese production almost on February 3, just after the Lunar New Year celebrations. This date was postponed to February 10, and the Japanese company announced on February 7 that it would not be possible to resume vehicle production until after February 17.

Toyota said this weekend that production will resume at its two Chinese factories on Monday and another on Tuesday. It is not yet time to start production of the fourth factory. Toyota Motor produced nearly 1.4 million cars in China for the domestic market last year. Toyota sells more cars in China than in Japan. Due to the new corona virus, several other Japanese vehicle manufacturers, including Nissan Motor, Honda Motor and Mazda Motor, have stopped production in their Chinese factories.
