Porsche 911 Targa

After the coupe and convertible, the real gourmet wall arrived on its new 911 palette. For the time being, Targa is only available with all-wheel drive, in Targa 4 and Targa 4S versions. The former delivers 385 horsepower and the latter 450 horsepower with a three-liter, six-cylinder turbo engine. With the Sport Chrono package, they accelerate to 100 km / h in 4.2 and 3.6 seconds, respectively. For the previous generation type, the sprint lasted 4.3 and 4.0 seconds, respectively. The top speeds are 289 and 304 km / h respectively; compared to the previous 287 and 301 km / h - I see, that's 15 and 30 extra horsepower.

The Targa is available from the first minute with the recently introduced seven-speed manual transmission, which comes standard with the Sport Chrono package; if the customer does not enter anything on the order form, the eight-speed automatic transmission remains. As with the other variants, what is new is the InnoDrive intelligent adaptive cruise control, which determines the current speed in the light of three-dimensional map data and speed limits for the route. Electronic undercarriage control is standard and the Smartlift function increases the value in use of the vehicle. The system raises the front undercarriage by 40 mm at pre-programmed geographical coordinates, making it easier for the owner to enter the garage.

The two performance levels are 235/40 R19 and 245/35 R20 at the front and 295/35 R20 and 305/30 R21 at the rear. The Targa 4 gets 330mm brake discs front and rear with identical four-piston saddles; the Targa 4S’s discs are 350mm and are clamped by six pistons instead of four at the front. The carbon-ceramic brake is available for both models.

The most interesting thing about it, of course, is the compact structure consisting of a huge rear windshield, a removable hardtop and a characteristic, chunky B-pillar. This appears to have been transferred from the predecessor model without change; the roof segment disappears in a good 19 seconds or slides back into place. The official market premiere of the model will be held in June, and orders will be accepted by the factory from August.
